- Can I choose to upgrade my Jenner’s Pond cottage or apartment?
- Yes. Every Jenner’s Pond residence offers you options in floor coverings, cabinetry, countertops, and other finish details. In addition, depending on the floor plan you choose, you may select additional options such as a sunroom, gas fireplace, or finished basement.
- Do I need to place my name on a waiting list at Jenner’s Pond?
- Yes, because Jenner’s Pond is currently completely occupied, you will need to place your name on our waiting list. Of course, the sooner you do so, the higher your priority will be. We also encourage you to visit our campus soon—even though we may not have any immediate openings, the recent completion of our final phase of construction means you can be among the first to experience Jenner’s Pond as the fully realized community we have always envisioned.
Adding your name to our waiting list also gives you the chance to join our Jennerations Advantage Club. As a member, you’ll be a part of our community even before moving here, because you’ll be able to enjoy a wide variety of opportunities that are otherwise only available to our residents. To learn more, visit our Jennerations page.
- When is the best time to move to a retirement community?
- The right time to make that move is different for everyone. However, you might be surprised to learn that most residents of Continuing Care Retirement Communities (CCRCs) will tell you that if they had to make the decision again, they’d move even sooner. The reasons they cite include freedom from home upkeep and yard work, the wonderful new friendships and new opportunities they’ve found, the security of having planned for the future, and the satisfaction of being in charge of making their own retirement decisions. Another smart reason to choose a CCRC? Studies show that residents of these communities enjoy longer, healthier lives than those in the general population. When you visit Jenner’s Pond, you’ll have the opportunity to discuss all your questions and concerns, including when might be the best time to make your move.
- Is any portion of my entry fee refundable?
- Yes. Unlike many retirement communities, Jenner’s Pond offers a refundability option, providing a return of no less than 50% of your entry fee, based on the resale value of your apartment or cottage. This unique refund plan allows you to benefit from the continued increase in property values in this desirable part of Pennsylvania.
- What cultural or recreational attractions will I find close to Jenner’s Pond?
- Jenner’s Pond is located in the middle of the culturally rich Brandywine Valley, only a short distance from the University of Delaware (where you’ll find music and theatre, as well as continuing education opportunities), Longwood Gardens, and the Wilmington Opera House. We also are less than an hour from Baltimore and Philadelphia. Many residents enjoy golf and tennis at nearby facilities. In addition, the YMCA located just across the street from our campus offers swimming, low-impact cardiovascular classes, and a selection of senior programs.
